On 27 June 2024, Ambassador Ian Biggs hosted an industry roundtable "Australia and Austria: Strategic Partners in Clean Energy".

Australian Ambassador Ian Biggs was delighted to host an industry roundtable "Australia and Austria: Strategic Partners in Clean Energy" on 27 June. The event was a significant step towards fostering collaboration and innovation in the clean energy sector between our two nations.

Key participants included Director General Florian Frauscher from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Wirtschaft, Assistant Secretary Marcus Henry from the Green Economy Branch at the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, David Urry, Investment Director and Team Lead for Net-Zero Transition in Europe at Austrade, Stefan Augustin from Trade and Investment Queensland, Wolfgang Anzengruber, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Hydrogen Partnership Austria (HyPA), and the Austrian Trade Commissioner in Sydney Ulrike Straka from ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Australia.

The roundtable provided a forum to discuss the clean energy opportunities driven by the Australian Government’s ‘Future Made in Australia’ package and to gain valuable insights on the green transition, particularly in the hydrogen sector, highlighting the potential for strategic partnerships and shared advancements. Together, Australia and Austria are committed to driving the transition to a sustainable and net-zero future.
