COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates
You may be required to present proof of vaccination to enter some venues in Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Australian International COVID Vaccination Certificate is acceptable proof of vaccination for this purpose. However the local EU Green Pass apps are not configured to read the QR codes on non-EU format vaccination certificates. This may cause difficulties for travellers for travellers from many countries, including Australians, when accessing local venues, businesses and transportation.
If you're travelling to another country in Europe before visiting Austria, Slovakia or Slovenia, you may be able to convert your Australian vaccination certificate to an EU Digital Certificate which can be read by the local Green Pass apps.
If you're not able to obtain an EU Digital Certificate, you should carry a hard copy of your Australian vaccination certificate with you at all times.
The Australian Embassy in Vienna has prepared a letter (in English and German) that may assist with confirming that Australia's vaccination certificates are recognised as equivalent to EU Green Passes in Austria – available here (PDF).
